Meditation is often about navigating through thoughts and images so that we find ourselves, a deeper version of ourselves.
In some sense, we've not gone anywhere. Still, there is a sense of a journey to the process. While spiritual enlightenment is not "in time", there is nevertheless a chronological process involved.
Time passes in meditation; time you cannot get back. This is one reason why people sometimes do not meditate. They don't feel they are doing something "useful". And this is why it can be interesting just spend about 60 seconds when you arrive some place. Don't rush out of your car. Sit there and be still for a minute or two. See how you feel.
